Larry's News

Announcement 09/12/08 >> Hi Everyone,  I am looking into booking a trip next year for the first week in May. I looking into renting a villa in the Florence area of Italy for a week or taking a week long cruise. The cruise would be on the Norwegian Gem a brand new ship. It would depart out of Barcelona and go to Malta, Naples, Invitee (Rome), Livorno (Florence), Cannes, and back to Barcelona. A balcony room including all Port charges and taxes is $1550 per person. You can add airfare and a night or two before the cruise in Barcelona. The other choices are villas around Florence. For around $800 per person for the week you can have a villa that is close to Florence, but you have to add food, transportation, air fare, and a few other small incidentals. I would like feedback. First I would like to know whether you are interested in going or not at all. If you are interested, which option would you prefer. I would appreciate all comments but please reply soon as I am going to pick one or the other very soon. Thanks.

Announcement 08/14/08 >> For 2009 we are thinking about doing a trip to Italy. I am looking at renting a villa or villas in the Tuscany, Florence area for a week and exploring that section of Italy. I am doing some research and will soon have some information on prices and time of the year. If anyone has any suggestions or experience with this area let me know asap. Right now we are looking at the begining of May 2009.

Cruise Update 12/06/07 >> Carnival has added a $35.00 per person fuel surcharge to our trip. I thought it was unfair because we had already booked it but it applies to everyone that sails after 2/01/08 and that's us. You should be making your flight plans for the trip because airfares are going to go up. I still have a few people looking for roommates so if you don't have a cabin mate and want to go let me know. Final payment will be due the first week of January so set aside some of that Christmas bonus for your cruise payment. Happy Holidays.

October 2006 - Our 19th Annual Party will not be a cruise this year. Instead we are going on a Golf Trip to Ireland! At this time we have 20 golfers signed up. We are leaving on May 3 2007 and returning on May 11th. We will be staying in Killarney. If anyone else is interested please get in touch with me,but we must have people in groups of 4 because the golf, cars, and accommodations are all based on four people.

We currently have an airfare of $549 round trip from JFK to Shannon airport. The lodgings with breakfast everyday and 3 rounds of golf on some very nice courses is about $875 and the rental vans will run about $150 per person for the week. The price for the hotel and golf is good until the end of October. Airfare is subject to change daily. I hope to hear from some golfers so we can add to the group!

December 28 th 2005 - CRUISE UPDATE!! - I have booked my flights to Puerto Rico for the cruise. I have booked Jet Blue on the way down. They have a 10:30 am flight which gets you in around 1:30pm and an American flight home which leaves PR at 12 noon. The ship does not leave Pr until 10 pm on the 7th, so you will have plenty of time in PR. The noon flight coming home is good because it gives you enough time to get back to the airport from the ship. Right now they are going for $139 each way. You can wait to see if a better deal comes along but you may get shut out on the best times. Remember the final payment is due on Feb. 1st which will be here very soon. Call me with any questions.

September 28th 2005 - CRUISE UPDATE!! - Larrys 18th Annual Cruise May 7th to May 14th 2006 sailing from San Juan Puerto Rico, the Carnival ship Destiny. We will be stopping in St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, and Aruba. The cost is $950 for a balcony cabin $650 for an inside cabin. All prices are per person and include all taxes and port charges. Airfare is not included. More details will follow shortly. Reserve your room early.

September 19th 2005 - We had a great time in St Louis in May. The baseball games were great and so were the refreshments. Future road trips will be in order. Alex's wedding was a great success. The site, the food, the band (SOS), and the people made for an unforgettable day and night. Many past and present cruisers were in attendance, so it felt like formal night. The Alaska cruise was an unforgettable experience for the 30 people that went. Very different from any we have done before. The pictures cannot capture the reality of what we saw. A good time was had by all. Its time to start planning the next one. <VIEW PICTURES>

April 28th 2005 - We will have thirty cruisers this year for our Alaska trip. Twenty eight of us will be arriving in Seattle on Fri. July 1st. I have booked rooms in your names at the Seattle Renaissance Hotel which is located at 515 Madison St. The room rate is $129 per night. The hotel is located in the heart of the downtown district and is a short walk to all the attractions. I am going to try to arrange transportation for those of us on the American Airlines flight that leaves JFK at 7 am. on Fri. to the hotel. I will also check into transports to the cruise ship on Sat. If you have booked a flight on an other airline that gets in around the same time let me know and I will try to include you in our transportation.

March 30th 2005 - Final payment for Alaska is due on 4/01/05. It looks like we will have 28 cruisers this year. Many of us are going to Seattle on Fri. July 1st. If you are planning on going Fri please let me know because we are looking into a hotel and I have to know how many rooms to book. The ship sails on Sat. July 2nd at 4pm. When we return on Sat. July 9th you may leave the ship any time after 7am. Some of us have booked a 11:45 am flight home on American Airlines. The airport is about 15 miles from the ship and shouldn't take too long to reach, but I wouldn't book any flights too much earlier just in case everything doesn't go as planned. Cruise tickets will be sent to me about 2 weeks prior to sailing and I will get them to you soon after that.I have one cancelation for a balcony room so there is still one room remaining but I will have to give it up shortly. If you know anyone who may be interested this will be the last opportunity at this price. Let me know.

August 30th 2004 - Next years cruise will be completely different. We are going to Alaska. The first week in July for 7 days. This is a once in a lifetime trip. Ask anyone who's ever gone there. There are excursions for every interest along with a floating hotel that is constantly passing breath taking scenery. What better way to see it than with a bunch of friends. For the first time ever school workers will be able to join us because schools are closed in July. This will be totally different than any other cruise you have taken or will take. Don't miss it. Click here to see Shore Excursions!!

May 18th 2004 -The 16th annual cruise went very well and a good time was had by everyone. We all made it back east, tired but with smiles on our faces.Hopefully there will be some pictures on the web site soon. I am still looking at all the options. If you have any good ones send them to me. Looking foward to more cruise type weather around here so we can do some local tropical type party action.

April 16th 2004 - CALIFORNIA!! - We are all set for the trip to California. We have a bakers dozen this year. Most of us are leaving on April 30th and we are staying at the Coast of Long Beach Hotel Fri and Sat. nights. Even though Dani and Gordy are not coming on the cruise they are going to stay at our hotel for the weekend for a pre-cruise party. This year we welcome back a past cruiser from the 95 and 96 cruises. Colleen is back in the house. As fate would have it we will be in Mexico for Cinco de Mayo. I am sure we will have some tails to tell about that one. I'll load up the camera in case we forget.

May 15th 2003 - CRUISE REVIEW!! - Well the 15th is over and what a cruise it was. As always people are already talking about next year. I will be looking for a good deal for our next cruise but if anyone has any suggestions I am willing to listen. If you have any good cruise pictures please send them to me because I am going to put pictures up on the web site and we are limited by space , so I want to make sure I get the best ones up. There were a few firsts this year [ A honeymoon and a wedding.] We had guests from California, Florida, Oklahoma, Massachusettes,New Jersey and of couse New York. Some of us adopted friends from Canada and Italy.

The highlight of the trip was of course the wedding, which went very smoothly, and turned out to be a beautiful ceramony in a wonderful setting. You couldn't ask for much more. for those of us that were out during the day time, the all Long Island volleyball final was fun, and the Think while you drink game featuring only ER names brought out some great trivia .

Timmy Motherway won the blackjack tournament giving us a winner for the second year in a row [Maryjean won last year]. Although they didn't win the ship building competition the " Angel Butterfly" boat was great. I would like to thank Gordy for being so helpful on his first cruise with us, and I would like to nominate "little Artie" as rookie of the year. So now the summer partying begins and the tales of the cruise make their way back to the Rock. Some stories will grow with each telling, so by september take what you hear with a grain of salt. I hope to see everyone at the parties and bring your pictures.

Remember what Westy says " Life without drinks stinks"

April 16th 2003 - CRUISE UPDATE!! - Transportation is all set up for people arriving on Fri. morning May 2nd and for people arriving Sat morning May 3rd. The cost is $25 per person round trip and $15 per per person one way and must be paid in advance. Remember there are two formal nights on the trip and for the men, Advance Formal wear on Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre always gives us a great deal for the week. Cruise tickets will be distributed or mailed to you starting Tues. April 22nd. If you don't have them by the 25 call me. Somer of our first time cruisers have asked where we are going. { The veterens don't care}.On sunday We are stopping at a small private island in the Bahamas first and then we are on to St. Thomas on Tues. and St Martin on Wed. Thur and Fri. are at sea and we return to Port Canaveral on Sat. Morning. Remember you must have a valid passport or original birth certificate to get on board as well as photo ID. There is a restaurant on the Pride that is not included in your free food. It is up on the top of the ship and requires a fee and reservations. It is well worth it if you are interested but there is also a dress code and men must wear jackets. This is strictly optional for those who are interested. For those people arriving on Sat. May 3rd, you must make your way over to the A terminal and go down the escalater and look for a person holding a sign that says Larry's Parties. He will direct you to the bus. February 3rd 2003 - CRUISE UPDATE!! - Final payment is now due. Please contact me to arrange payment. From this point on you will lose $250. per person if you cancel your cruise. I have a deal for transportation to and from the airport. It depends on the number of people and must be paid in advance but it should be $25 per person round trip. If you are interested I must know if are arriving on fri or sat and the time and airline you will arriving on.

I have been in touch with the radisson in port canaveral and have saved some rooms and suites. The rooms are $109 per night and have a king bed or two double beds plus a pull out couch bed. The suites are $129 and have King size bed a queen size sleeper couch, kitchen, dining area and room to add sleeper cots at $10 each. January 28th 2003 - CRUISE UPDATE!! - Now is a good time to start booking your cruise flights. Some people are going down on Friday and the rest on Saturday. If you are leaving on Saturday try to get to Orlando before noon. It takes time to get transportation and it is about an hour ride to the ship. If you are going on Friday, I have booked my flight and I will arrive in Orlando at 10:50. If you are interested in joining our group for cheaper transportation try to arrange your flight to arrive around that time. Let me know when you have booked something so I can work on the transportation and rooms for the Fri.day people. Do not book your return flight before noon on Saturday because you won't have enough time to make it to the airport. If you have any questions give me a call or e-mail me. Please let me know if you are going Friday or Saturday.
